Fiji Hosts Historic Pacific Youth Government Meeting

Fiji’s Ministry of Youth and Sports is hosting the South Pacific Youth Senior Officials Government Meeting, which officially commenced today in Suva. The chair of the meeting is Permanent Secretary Meli Nacuva.

Nacuva welcomed all participants warmly and expressed appreciation to the Secretariat of the Pacific Community (SPC) for their assistance in organizing the event. He underscored the meeting’s importance in tackling the challenges faced by youth in the region and stressed the need for collaboration and cooperation to develop effective solutions.

Highlighting Fiji’s unique cultural diversity and its renowned hospitality, Nacuva encouraged attendees to take full advantage of their time in Fiji and engage in meaningful discussions that will positively influence the region’s youth.

Pacific Youth Council Chair Mahoney Mori described the Senior Officials Meeting as historic, stating that youth represent the promise of the Pacific. He extended thanks to the Fijian government for the traditional welcome.

During the vote of thanks, Pacific Youth Council Vice Chair Melissa Bule also expressed gratitude to the Fijian government for their warm reception and acknowledged the participation of senior officials from other Pacific nations. She wished all attendees a productive forum with valuable discussions.

The South Pacific Youth Senior Officials Government Meeting is expected to be attended by Permanent Secretaries, CEOs from the South Pacific, PYC Chairperson, senior officials, government representatives, and youth representatives.
