At a Special Investiture ceremony held at the State House, the President of Fiji, Ratu Wiliame Katonivere, commended individuals for their selflessness and significant contributions to their communities and the nation. This ceremony is a part of the Order of Fiji, which was established by the government in 1995 to honor citizens for exemplary achievements and service, as well as occasionally recognize non-citizens.
The Order comprises several awards, including those for the General Division and the Disciplined Services. Additionally, the Civil Service Medal is designated for members of the Fiji Civil Service who demonstrate exceptional dedication and accomplishment.
In his remarks, Ratu Wiliame emphasized that the awards serve as vital motivators, urging recipients to inspire others through their commitment to meaningful service. He underscored the importance of fostering a culture of appreciation among peers and acknowledged those awardees who were unable to attend the ceremony due to work or logistical reasons.
The event celebrated recipients in three main categories: the Order of Fiji (covering both General and Military Divisions), the 50th Anniversary Commemorative Medal, and the Civil Service Medal.
