Fiji Honors Excellence: 50th Anniversary Medal Awarded to Key Figures

Fiji’s President Ratu Wiliame Katonivere has presented the 50th Anniversary Medal to both Ambassador Filipo Tarakinikini, Fiji’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, and Colonel Siliva Raradoka Vananalagi, Fiji’s Military and Police Advisor to the UN.

This medal is bestowed to recognize and honor the contributions of both citizens and non-citizens towards Fiji’s development and broader humanitarian efforts over the past 50 years. The award emphasizes the importance of promoting a culture of appreciation and inclusivity, as highlighted by the President.

Ambassador Tarakinikini has demonstrated exceptional service through his role as the chief of the Middle East and North Africa section at the UN Department of Safety and Security at the UN headquarters in New York. Meanwhile, Colonel Vananalagi has enjoyed a diverse 35-year career, serving in various capacities including administrator, trainer, planner, financial controller, and logistician at different command levels both domestically and internationally.
