The Ministry of Home Affairs is set to undertake an internal restructuring and reform of the Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) to boost efficiency, establish the Joint Logistics Command, and introduce Automated Logistics Management Systems.
Minister Pio Tikoduadua underscored this initiative while discussing the 2024-2025 National Budget in Parliament today.
Tikoduadua affirmed that the RFMF remains dedicated to safeguarding Fiji and supporting global peacekeeping missions. He stated that these reforms will streamline operations, cut costs, and enhance overall capabilities.
“Our naval division continues to protect our vast Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) and support maritime operations essential to our national security and economic interests. Monitoring Fiji’s EEZ and conducting maritime search and rescue missions are crucial to our sovereignty and economic well-being,” said Tikoduadua.
He emphasized that the budget reflects the Government’s commitment to the safety, security, and prosperity of all Fijians. The Government aims to address immediate challenges while planning for the future by providing defense forces and police with modern tools and technology to prepare them for any situation.
“The investments we make today will create a safer and more secure Fiji for tomorrow. A nation where businesses can thrive without fear of disruption, where communities are united and cohesive, and where every citizen feels protected and valued. This is our vision for Fiji—a vision of prosperity grounded in security and stability,” he concluded.
