Fiji Golf Tournament: Newcomers Shock with Victory!

Team Pro Pack emerged victorious at the Fiji Airways-sponsored Caritas Fiji Golf tournament, held at the Denarau Golf and Racquet Club last Saturday. The winning team comprised Kishor Kumar, Inoke Bolakoro, Damien Sheridan, and Roneel Prakash, who finished with a score of 56.125 points. This was particularly notable for Damien Sheridan, who expressed his excitement by stating, “I’m playing golf for the first time and great to be part of the winning team.”

Taking second place was Team Rariben, which featured Shelly Rariden from Michigan, USA, alongside Father Sigarara and David Qiolevu, who recorded a score of 56.3 points. Rariden reflected on their warm experience, emphasizing the welcoming nature of the staff and the beauty of the golf course. She noted, “Fiji met all my expectations as far as a warm cultural community; we just had a great time. We also do support charity golf back home.”

In third place, Team Mali, consisting of Nitulesh Mali, Avinesh Dutt, Shivneel Gounder, and Abid Hussain, scored 56.62 points.

Arthur Groom, director of Caritas Fiji, expressed gratitude to their major sponsor, Fiji Airways, for supporting the second annual tournament, which is dedicated to charity. He highlighted that all proceeds would aid charitable initiatives to assist those in need within the community. Groom stated, “A big thank you to our generous sponsors for making this event possible. Let’s make a difference together.”

Caritas Fiji, established as the social arm of the Catholic Church in Fiji, aims to advocate for the poor and marginalized, reinforcing its commitment to charity and social justice.

This tournament not only fostered camaraderie among participants but also successfully contributed to meaningful charitable efforts, demonstrating how sports can unite people for a good cause.
