The Fiji Golf Club in Vatuwaqa was alive with energy as it hosted its weekly Stableford tournament yesterday, sponsored by Mali Pest Control. A total of 70 golfers gathered, showcasing their skills in a friendly competition that welcomed participants of all ages.
Alvin Nair, one of the golfers present, commented on the high level of play and the ideal weather that made the event even more enjoyable. “There’s a lot of members who have turned up since morning, because the weather is fine and it’s more playable,” Nair remarked, noting the positive atmosphere among his fellow competitors.
The camaraderie among the golfers was evident as they shared the course and later participated in social activities at the clubhouse. Nair described the day as not just about competition, but also about building friendships. He encouraged young athletes interested in golf to participate in events like this, highlighting the importance of fostering new talent in the sport. “We have young golfers coming from the junior members, and we encourage them to attend,” he emphasized.
Looking ahead, the club will host the East vs West tournament today, attracting experienced golfers from across the country for another exciting day of golf.
This event not only showcases the sport but also nurtures community spirit and sportsmanship among players. As more young golfers get involved, the future of the game looks promising, and the bonds formed on the course will likely inspire healthy competition and a love for the sport for years to come.
