The Fiji Golf Club in Vatuwaqa buzzed with energy as it hosted its weekly Stableford tournament yesterday, sponsored by Mali Pest Control. A total of 70 golfers participated in the one-day event, competing in a friendly atmosphere that welcomed golfers of different ages.
Alvin Nair, one of the golfers at the tournament, praised the level of play and noted the beautiful weather, which contributed to an enjoyable day on the course. “There was a great turnout this morning due to the fine weather, making it more playable,” Nair commented. He also emphasized the camaraderie among attendees, describing how the event fosters friendships and social interactions.
After the rounds, players gathered to enjoy each other’s company, enhancing the community spirit of the tournament. Nair took the opportunity to encourage young aspiring golfers to engage with the sport and participate in such competitions. “We see junior golfers joining in, and we continually encourage them to come and take part,” he stated.
Looking ahead, the club is set to host the East vs West tournament today, which promises to attract experienced golfers from across the nation for another exciting day of golfing.
Overall, events like these highlight not only the sporting talent in Fiji but also the profound sense of community and support for young athletes in golf. It’s a wonderful reminder of how sports can bring people together, cultivate friendships, and inspire the next generation to take up a healthy and engaging pastime.
