The Fiji Golf Club in Vatuwaqa was abuzz with energy yesterday as it hosted its weekly Stableford tournament, sponsored by Mali Pest Control. The event attracted 70 enthusiastic golfers of varying ages, all eager to participate in a friendly competition.
One participant, Alvin Nair, expressed his delight with the level of play, highlighting the favorable weather conditions that made for an enjoyable day on the course. “There’s a lot of members who have turned up since morning, because the weather is fine and it’s more playable,” he remarked.
Nair also emphasized the camaraderie among participants, who not only competed but also enjoyed each other’s company. “It’s pretty easy, because all the golfers play and when we come back to the courthouse, it’s basically a friendship and social activities that follow,” he said.
Moreover, Nair encouraged young aspiring golfers to take up the sport and participate in such events. He noted the presence of junior members eager to join in, reinforcing the club’s welcoming culture and commitment to nurturing the next generation of golfers.
Today, the club will host the much-anticipated East vs West tournament, which promises to bring together seasoned golfers from across the country for another exciting day of golf.
