Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Professor Biman Prasad will head Fiji’s delegation to the 29th Conference of Parties (COP29) of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), taking place from November 11 to November 22, 2024, in Baku, Azerbaijan. This decision was approved by the Cabinet following a meeting held on Tuesday. COP29 will address various important topics, including climate finance, carbon markets, mitigation, adaptation, loss and damage, and ocean issues, among others. A Technical Working Group, coordinated by the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, will provide essential support for Fiji’s preparations for the conference.
