The Fiji National Football Team has achieved a notable milestone by moving up to 146th place in the latest FIFA/Coca-Cola Men’s World Ranking. This marks them as the second-highest ranked team in the Oceania Football Confederation (OFC), highlighting a significant moment for the Bula Boys and the wider football community in Fiji.
This ranking is the highest that Fiji has attained since 2011, reflecting the team’s steady progress and improvement over the years. The recent upward shift in the rankings can be attributed to Fiji’s victory over the Solomon Islands during the FIFA World Cup 2026 qualifiers, allowing them to surpass their regional competitors.
Fiji FA President Rajesh Patel shared his excitement regarding the team’s ranking, crediting it to the dedication and hard work of the players, coaching staff, and the entire football community in Fiji. He underscored the importance of player development, coaching, and infrastructure investments that have bolstered the team’s success. Patel acknowledged the value of constructive criticism while stressing the need for unity and support within the community.
“Constructive criticism is important and helps us reflect and improve,” Patel stated. “However, we must also recognise that the path to success is not always straightforward, and we will face challenges along the way.”
He expressed gratitude to the loyal supporters, acknowledging their passion and dedication as crucial to the team’s achievements. Patel remained optimistic about Fiji’s potential for greater success in the future, both regionally within Oceania and on the international stage.
