Fiji FA Steps Up: Supporting Families of Football Legends

The Fiji Football Association (Fiji FA) has reaffirmed its dedication to assisting the families of former players by providing financial support for their children’s education. During the award presentation for the RC Manubhai/Apco Coatings Veterans Tournament at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva on Sunday, the organization presented $500 cheques to former national players Semi Tabaiwalu, Kini Tubi, and Hendry Dyer.

This initiative is part of Fiji FA’s broader social responsibility effort to acknowledge the contributions of past players and provide aid to their families. Fiji FA President Rajesh Patel stressed the significance of recognizing and honoring the dedication of former players, assuring that their efforts will not be forgotten and that they will receive the appreciation they deserve.

The financial support comes from the proceeds of the RC Manubhai/APCO Coatings International Veteran’s tournament, with proceeds specifically allocated to fund the education of the children of former players. Patel noted that the organization aims to assist four families annually, with the potential to expand this support in the future, depending on the revenue generated by the tournament. The families selected for assistance are determined by the trustees of the Veteran’s Committee, ensuring a fair evaluation process.
