The Fiji Football Association (Fiji FA) Awards Night is set to make its much-anticipated return after a three-year break, featuring 14 notable awards. This year, the event will be bolstered by a partnership with Extra Supermarket, promising to enhance the overall experience and scale of the evening.

Fiji FA’s chief executive, Mohammed Yusuf, emphasized the significance of this gala occasion in bringing together the football community and highlighting the dedication of individuals and teams within the sport. He stressed that the event will celebrate the outstanding achievements of players, coaches, teams, officials, and volunteers across Fiji’s football landscape.

Yusuf encouraged all 20 affiliated clubs to submit nominations, ensuring that those who contribute tirelessly, including players, coaches, officials, and volunteers, receive the recognition they deserve. “We urge all clubs to send in their nominations for the hard work of their players, coaches, officials, and volunteers. We encourage clubs to participate and ensure their stars shine at the awards night,” he said.

This year’s Awards Night will introduce several new categories to honor the diverse contributions to Fiji football. Awards will include Footballer of the Year (Male and Female), Young Footballer of the Year (Male and Female), Futsal Player of the Year (Male and Female), Team of the Year, Administrator of the Year, Coach of the Year, Referee of the Year, Elite Player of the Year, Volunteer of the Year, and Employee of the Year. Yusuf noted that these expanded categories would allow for a more inclusive recognition of achievements across both football and futsal, along with the essential roles played by various stakeholders in advancing the sport.

The Extra Supermarket Fiji FA Awards Night 2024 is scheduled for December 1 at Crown Plaza Hotel in Nadi, promising an evening of celebration and recognition for those who have made significant contributions to the sport.

This return of the Awards Night is a positive development for the sports community as it not only acknowledges individual hard work but also fosters a sense of unity and motivation among all stakeholders in Fiji football. It reinforces the importance of community and recognition in sports, encouraging continued involvement and dedication from everyone involved.
