The Fiji Football Association (Fiji FA) Awards Night is set to make a highly awaited comeback after a three-year break. This year’s event promises to be more spectacular, thanks in part to sponsorship from Extra Supermarket, enhancing its prestige and appeal.
Fiji FA’s Chief Executive Officer, Mohammed Yusuf, emphasized that the awards night plays a crucial role in bringing the football community together and acknowledging the significant efforts of individuals and teams in the sport. “The awards night is to bring the football fraternity together after a three-year hiatus to acknowledge the achievements and dedication of the clubs,” Yusuf stated.
The event will honor the remarkable contributions of players, coaches, teams, officials, and volunteers from across Fiji’s football landscape. Yusuf encouraged all 20 Fiji FA-affiliated clubs to submit nominations to recognize their members’ hard work and dedication, urging them to ensure their stars shine during the awards ceremony.
This year’s awards night will also introduce several new categories that reflect the diverse contributions of the football community in Fiji. The categories include Footballer of the Year (Male and Female), Young Footballer of the Year (Male and Female), Futsal Player of the Year (Male/Female), Team of the Year, Administrator of the Year, Coach of the Year, Referee of the Year, Elite Player of the Year, Volunteer of the Year, and Employee of the Year.
Scheduled for December 1, 2024, the Extra Supermarket Fiji FA Awards Night will take place at the Crown Plaza Hotel in Nadi.
This revival of the Fiji FA Awards Night is not just a celebration of achievements, but a hopeful reconnection of the football community, showcasing the depth of talent, commitment, and teamwork that thrives within Fiji’s football framework. It highlights the potential for growth and the continuous efforts to foster a vibrant sports culture in the country.
In summary, the return of the Fiji FA Awards Night is a positive and unifying event for the football community, setting the stage for greater recognition and celebration of the sport in Fiji.
