Fiji is looking to partner with China in various fields, including sustainable aquaculture, marine and ecological conservation, knowledge-sharing, and capacity building. Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka emphasized this goal during his recent visit to Ninghai Village in Ningde, Fujian Province. He expressed Fiji’s interest in collaborating with China to enhance ecological conservation, develop eco-friendly aquaculture, and improve fish farming, which would advance the country’s fisheries sector.
Mr. Rabuka highlighted that coastal communities and the fisheries sector could significantly benefit from marine fish farming projects and the knowledge gained from them. He also visited the Ningde Poverty Alleviation and Development Exhibition Hall in Ningde City.
“Fiji is committed to tackling poverty through various initiatives under the Ministry of Women, Children and Social Protection, including social pension schemes and food voucher programs,” Mr. Rabuka remarked. He noted that Fiji could greatly benefit from China’s customized poverty alleviation strategies to improve local communities’ livelihoods.
