Fiji Embraces Innovative Fertilizers: A Farming Revolution on the Horizon?

Fiji may soon implement new fertilisers utilizing nanomaterials and nanotechnology from China, contingent on the success of current trials, according to Sugar Industry Minister Charan Jeath Singh. The minister recently met with a delegation from Shenzhen King Quenson Industry Company Limited at the Sugar Research Institute of Fiji (SRIF) in Lautoka to discuss potential fertilisers that could enhance sugar and agricultural production in Fiji.

“The new fertilisers will undergo rigorous testing by the SRIF to determine their effectiveness,” Mr. Singh stated. “This reflects our serious commitment to improving the industry’s output and sustainability.”

Shenzhen King Quenson Industry Company Limited is recognized as a leading agrochemical manufacturer in China. SRIF’s CEO, Vinesh Kumar, expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration, noting, “This innovative approach, grounded in nanomaterials and nanotechnology, provides a comprehensive solution to our agricultural requirements.”

Trials of the fertilisers have taken place in a low-production field located in Rakiraki. Mr. Kumar added, “In the upcoming months, we will collect sufficient data to validate the quality and effectiveness of the fertiliser proposed by Shenzhen King Quenson Industry.”
