Spread the love

After a six-year romance and a shared live-in experience, a couple originally from Fiji has chosen to host their wedding and reception in their homeland after relocating from New Zealand. Jiten Lal, a businessman from Nausori, and Sandya Chand, a retail manager from Nadi, have built their life in Auckland over nearly three decades but have always cherished their Fijian roots.

The couple met in Manukau, Auckland, and after a fulfilling relationship of over six years, they decided to return to Fiji for their special day five months ago. “Fiji is our birth country, and we both saw it as a dream location for our marriage,” expressed Lal, noting their gratitude for being able to share the occasion with family and friends who showered them with love and blessings.

During their stay, Lal and Chand were particularly impressed by the exceptional hospitality and service they received. “Everything turned out so well, and we are thankful to Novotel Hotel in Lami for organising everything. The event centre was beautifully decorated, and the staff were friendly and accommodating; the food was amazing,” he commented. They also expressed gratitude to various Fijian professionals in the wedding and entertainment sectors, who helped create a memorable experience.

Lal encourages other couples considering marriage to think about Fiji, praising the warmth and commitment of the local vendors in areas such as photography, venue selection, decorations, and catering. “At no point did anyone let us down with their service,” he added.

Reflecting on their journey, the couple emphasized the significance of reconnecting with roots and creating shared memories with loved ones, acknowledging the fleeting nature of life. They have plans to return to Fiji for the Christmas and New Year holidays and are considering establishing a business to contribute positively to the local community.

This story illustrates how love can thrive across cultures and borders, and highlights the beauty of celebrating significant life events in one’s homeland. It serves as an inspiring reminder to cherish connections with our origins and loved ones.
