The president of the Fiji Dental Association, Dr. Parikshath Naidu, has highlighted membership concerns as a significant challenge for the organization. In a recent interview, he noted that the association faces various issues at different membership levels, particularly with practitioners.
Dr. Naidu emphasized that supporting members is the association’s top priority. Once dental practitioners join, the association aids in their well-being, licensing, and navigating government practices, including salary and wage considerations. For private practitioners, the association provides support with taxation and product supply.
On a national level, the Fiji Dental Association engages in policy development and collaborates closely with the Ministry of Health, playing a vital role in the Fiji Medical Dental Council. The association maintains direct communication with both the Minister and the permanent secretary of health.
At this level, the association addresses legal matters and health emergencies, as well as broader concerns that affect oral health regionally and globally.
