Fiji Delegation Attends UNCOPS 2024 Summit to Strengthen Global Peace and Security through UN Policing Strategies

Juki Fong Chew, the Acting Commissioner of Police, was part of a Fiji delegation to the UNCOPS 2024 meeting at the UN headquarters. Led by the Minister for Home Affairs and Immigration, Pio Tikoduadua, the delegation participated in the conference designed to discuss ways to bolster international peace and security by amplifying the role of UN Policing.

The event brought together representatives from regional and professional Police organizations. Those in attendance included ministers, police chiefs, and senior law enforcement officers. The UNCOPS 2024 summit provided a forum for global police executives and UN leadership to discuss the strengthening relationship between UN Policing and national police forces in tackling global security issues.

Bilateral talks were also held on the sidelines of the summit, notably with Jean-Pierre, the Under Secretary General Department of Peace Operations, and a courtesy call on UN ASG Safety & Security, Mrs. Unaisi Vuniwaqa.

Over 500 representatives from member states attended the summit, including ministers, deputy ministers, and police chiefs.
