The High Commissioner of Fiji to New Zealand, Ratu Inoke Kubuabola, emphasized the vital contributions of seniors and the importance of Fijian heritage during the joint observance of the International Day for Older Persons and Fiji Day.
At the A1 Event Centre in Papatoetoe, he expressed gratitude to the Fiji Girmit Foundation for fostering unity among senior citizens.
“Fiji Day is not merely a commemoration of our rich heritage but also a reflection of the resilience within the Fijian community here in New Zealand. Your commitment enhances our cultural diversity and fortifies the overall society of New Zealand,” Ratu Inoke Kubuabola remarked.
With Fiji Day approaching on October 19 at Mangere Centre Park, he urged the community to embrace their cultural identity and acknowledge the tenacity of Fijians in New Zealand, highlighting how their contributions enrich the wider social fabric.
He further called on the youth to respect their heritage and carry forward the legacy of their ancestors.
Mr. Kubuabola also encouraged solidarity with those in Fiji, advocating for charitable support and maintaining connections with their homeland.
The Fiji Missions aim to strengthen ties with the Fijian diaspora and promote national pride and unity through Public Diplomacy Programs such as Fiji Day.
