Over 400 military and navy personnel will participate in the national Fiji Day celebrations at Subrail Park in Labasa tomorrow. Samuela Ligairi, the special administrator of Labasa Town Council, announced that these members will engage in various ceremonial duties to commemorate the nation’s independence day.
Ligairi confirmed that both government ministers and bilateral partners will also attend the event. The chief guest will be the provincial chief and president, Ratu Wiliame Katonivere. He emphasized that the celebrations provide an opportunity for the community to unite and demonstrate their commitment to a stronger, more cohesive Fiji, as well as to reflect on the nation’s journey and shared values.
Ligairi noted that the last national celebration held in Labasa took place in 2018.
