The Fijian government has taken a strong stance against adult film production in the country, as expressed by Home Affairs Minister Pio Tikoduadua. This follows the deportation of British adult film star Tia Emma Billinger, known as ‘Bonnie Blue’, along with Australian cameraman Annie Knight. They were removed from Double Tree by Hilton in Nadi after it was revealed that they intended to create pornographic content featuring Australian school-leavers for their OnlyFans accounts.
Tikoduadua emphasized that such actions are illegal in Fiji, citing concerns over the well-being of the community and the integrity of the island nation. “Their intentions are illegal under the law, which is why we are taking these actions,” he stated, reinforcing the government’s position against illegal activities within its borders.
The minister pointed out that social media activities had clearly outlined their plans, which violated Section 377 of the Crimes Act that prohibits trafficking in obscene publications. Based on these violations, the government invoked Section 13(ii)(g) of the Immigration Act to repatriate the individuals involved.
The minister acknowledged the challenges in monitoring adult film stars, citing their use of aliases, but vowed that the Immigration Department would continue to combat breaches of the law. “We have established profiles for individuals suspected of illegal activities, and we collaborate with Interpol and other agencies to develop a comprehensive database,” he added.
Interestingly, this isn’t the first instance for Billinger; she had previously created similar content with young vacationers in the United States and the UK. Fiji remains a popular destination for school-leavers, particularly in the Mamanucas, and the government’s actions may be aimed at preserving the reputation and integrity of this sought-after location.
In a hopeful light, this incident may empower the Fijian government to further promote family-friendly tourism and uphold the cultural values that define the nation, ensuring that Fiji remains an ideal vacation spot for families and young travelers seeking wholesome experiences.
Overall, the government’s strong stance could foster a sense of safety and protection, upholding the cultural integrity of the islands while continuing to attract diverse tourists.
