Fiji Corrections Service Ends Free Tent Loans: What You Need to Know

The Fiji Corrections Service (FCS) has announced that it will no longer offer tents for loan free of charge for personal or community events. This decision was communicated by FCS Commissioner Dr. Jalesi Nakarawa and is effective immediately, driven by rising operational demands.

For many years, the FCS has provided support to various community events, lending tents for functions that varied from intimate gatherings to large celebrations that required accommodations for up to 300 attendees. Dr. Nakarawa expressed that their officers have taken great pride in assisting the community by both setting up and dismantling these tents to ensure the events’ success.

However, Dr. Nakarawa emphasized that the current pressures on their resources and personnel have made it increasingly difficult for the FCS to maintain this service without jeopardizing its primary duties and responsibilities. He noted that the process of setting up and taking down tents has demanded considerable time and manpower, which must now be redirected to meet the essential operational needs of the service.
