Tony Whitton, managing director of Rosie Holidays Fiji, has praised the organizers of the George ‘Fiji’ Veikoso Homecoming Concert, emphasizing the significant economic boost it provided. The two-day event is estimated to have contributed around $1 million to the local economy.
Mr. Whitton expressed admiration for the professionalism displayed by the concert organizers, noting the event attracted visitors from Australia, New Zealand, Samoa, and Vanuatu. He stated, “Not only did it provide a delight for the community, but there was also a very obvious economic benefit.” He added that the concert had notably increased visitor arrival numbers and supported various ancillary services such as VIP arrangements, stage set-up, lighting, and security.
The Deputy Prime Minister, Manoa Kamikamica, described the concert as an inspiring and emotional experience, referring to it as a “performance for the ages.” He highlighted the talent of George Veikoso, who performed uninterrupted for 90 minutes, expressing pride in his accomplishments. Mr. Kamikamica noted, “The concert also showcased Pacific talent and highlighted Pasifika talent to the world.”
