The Fiji Commerce and Employers Federation (FCEF) has appointed Edward Bernard, a former regional development consultant for the International Labour Organization (ILO), as its new chief executive officer. FCEF president Vinay Narsey expressed excitement about Bernard joining the team during a critical phase for the organization.
Narsey emphasized Bernard’s extensive experience in collaborating with strategic partners and stakeholders, as well as his expertise in private sector development, which will be crucial in advocating for the interests of businesses and employers throughout Fiji.
Bernard previously spent 15 years with the ILO, where he played a significant role in the planning, implementation, monitoring, and management of national and regional programs, as well as engaging in policy dialogue with national tripartite partners and overseeing teams and budgets.
In his new position, Bernard aims to enhance FCEF’s advocacy initiatives, grow membership and services, and encourage best practices within the business sector. He expressed his gratitude for the leadership opportunity and looks forward to collaborating with members, partners, the board, and the secretariat to foster positive change and spur economic growth in Fiji.
Bernard’s appointment will officially begin on Monday, November 11.
