Fiji Commerce and Employers Federation Welcomes New CEO: What’s Next?

The Fiji Commerce and Employers Federation (FCEF) has appointed Edward Bernard, a former regional development consultant for the International Labour Organization (ILO), as its new chief executive officer. FCEF president Vinay Narsey expressed enthusiasm about Mr. Bernard’s appointment, highlighting the organization’s pivotal moment and the value of his expertise in private sector development.

Mr. Narsey emphasized that Mr. Bernard’s experience in collaborating with strategic partners and stakeholders would greatly benefit FCEF as they advocate for businesses and employers throughout Fiji. Prior to this role, Mr. Bernard spent 15 years at the ILO, where he was responsible for planning, implementing, monitoring, and coordinating various national and regional programs, engaging in policy dialogue, and managing teams and substantial budgets.

In his new position, Mr. Bernard will prioritize enhancing FCEF’s advocacy efforts, growing membership and member services, and promoting best practices within the business community. “I am honored to take on this leadership position at FCEF,” Mr. Bernard stated, expressing his eagerness to work with members, partners, and the board to foster positive change and contribute to Fiji’s economic growth. His appointment is effective as of Monday, November 11.
