The Fiji Commerce and Employers Federation (FCEF) has appointed Edward Bernard, a former regional development consultant with the International Labour Organization (ILO), as its new chief executive officer.
FCEF president Vinay Narsey expressed enthusiasm about Mr. Bernard joining the organization at a critical time in its development. He highlighted Mr. Bernard’s extensive experience and understanding of working with strategic partners and stakeholders, emphasizing that his expertise in private sector development will be essential for the FCEF as it continues to advocate for businesses and employers throughout Fiji.
Previously, Mr. Bernard dedicated 15 years to the ILO, where he was responsible for planning, implementing, monitoring, reporting, and coordinating various national and regional programs. His role involved engaging in policy discussions with national tripartite partners, managing teams, and overseeing significant budgets.
In his new position at FCEF, Mr. Bernard aims to enhance the organization’s advocacy initiatives, broaden membership and services for members, and promote best practices within the business sector.
Mr. Bernard expressed his honor in assuming this leadership role and looks forward to collaborating with members, partners, the board, and the secretariat to foster positive changes, improve the business landscape, and support economic growth in Fiji.
His tenure as CEO will officially begin on Monday, November 11.
