Team Fiji achieved victories against multiple countries at the 45th World Chess Olympiad in Budapest, Hungary.
The Fiji Open Team successfully navigated a robust challenge from Palau, with Candidate Master Manoj Kumar managing to secure a crucial draw against John Ranel Morazo on Board 1. On Board 2, CM Rudr Prasad triumphed over Junior Santiago Tan, while CM Ronald Terubea defeated Angelo Salvadora. Additionally, Yash Krishen Maharaj from The University of the South Pacific bested Junior Manuel Mahor, contributing to Fiji Open’s win over Palau.
The Fiji Women’s Team also celebrated success with a win against the Netherlands.
In other match results, CM Ronald Terubea held Shaief Chashawa of Suriname to a draw, and WFM Kieran Lyons fought hard to achieve a draw against Women’s International Master Gabriella Johnson from Trinidad & Tobago.
