Fiji Bulikula’s Crucial Clash for World Cup Dreams!

The Fiji Bulikula women’s rugby league team will aim to secure a win with style and energy this weekend against the Cook Islands Moana in order to qualify for the Women’s Rugby League World Cup in 2026. Head coach Joe Rabele made this announcement following the team’s initial training session at Albert Park in Suva.

“This is the most crucial game of their lives, especially as it is being played in Fiji, on home ground,” Rabele stated. “We aim to protect our turf, as this match serves as a World Cup qualifier as well.”

He acknowledged the recent defeat of the men’s team, the Vodafone Fiji Bati, against the Papua New Guinea Kumuls, noting this setback would motivate the Bulikula team to better prepare. “The Bati did not achieve the desired results last week, so we are learning from their experience and aiming for a more thorough preparation this week for the World Cup qualifier,” Rabele explained.

The team is focusing on enhancing their attacking strategies and other essential aspects of their game in anticipation of their match against the Cook Islands. Part of their preparation also involves strengthening team unity.

On Sunday, the squad gathered in Qauia Village to participate in a church service where they sought spiritual guidance and reflection before continuing their preparations and training throughout the week leading up to the match.

The Bulikula team will face the Moana this Saturday at 6 PM at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva.
