Fiji Braces for Weekend Wind and Rough Seas Warning!

A strong wind warning has been issued for all Fiji Waters for the upcoming weekend. The Fiji Meteorological Services released a serious advisory indicating that rough seas are anticipated. Sailors and fishermen are urged to take safety precautions and avoid risky waters.

Currently, an east to southeast wind flow is affecting the Fiji group, alongside a trough of low pressure located to the south. By midday today, east to southeast winds of 20 to 25 knots are predicted, accompanied by rough seas and moderate southerly swells.

Occasional showers and isolated thunderstorms are expected in several regions, including:

– Serua-Namosi
– Navua-Suva-Nausori-Tailevu
– Naitasiri, Ra-Rakiraki
– Eastern Macuata
– Southern Bua
– Cakaudrove
– Kadavu
– Lau
– Lomaiviti groups

Other areas can expect cloudy periods with showers and potential isolated thunderstorms, particularly in the afternoons or evenings. This weather pattern is likely to persist across all divisions and outer islands, with isolated thunderstorms possible on Saturday afternoon and evening.
