Fiji Braces for Weekend Stormy Seas and Strong Winds

A strong wind warning has been issued for all Fiji Waters in anticipation of the upcoming weekend. The Fiji Meteorological Services provided this advisory yesterday, stating that rough seas are expected to increase.

Sailors and fishermen are urged to take necessary precautions and avoid venturing into rough waters. The current weather pattern indicates an east to southeast wind flow prevailing over the Fiji group, with a trough of low pressure situated to the south.

As of midday today, east to southeast winds are predicted to reach speeds of 20 to 25 knots, accompanied by rough seas and moderate southerly swells.

Occasional showers and isolated thunderstorms are anticipated in several regions, including:

– Serua-Namosi
– Navua-Suva-Nausori-Tailevu
– Naitasiri, Ra-Rakiraki
– Eastern Macuata
– Southern Bua
– Cakaudrove
– Kadavu
– Lau
– Lomaiviti groups

Other areas are expected to experience cloudy conditions with showers and possible isolated thunderstorms, particularly during the afternoon or evening. This weather pattern is anticipated to persist across all divisions and outer islands, with the likelihood of isolated thunderstorms occurring on Saturday afternoon and evening.
