Fiji Braces for Weekend Storm: Strong Winds and Rough Seas Ahead

A strong wind warning has been issued for all Fiji Waters for the upcoming weekend. The Fiji Meteorological Services released a warning indicating that rough seas are anticipated. Sailors and fishermen are urged to take safety precautions and avoid rough waters.

Currently, an east to southeast wind flow affects the Fiji region, with a trough of low pressure to the south. Today around midday, east to southeast winds of 20 to 25 knots are expected, accompanied by rough seas and moderate southerly swells.

Occasional showers and isolated thunderstorms are forecasted for several regions, including:

– Serua-Namosi
– Navua-Suva-Nausori-Tailevu
– Naitasiri, Ra-Rakiraki
– Eastern Macuata
– Southern Bua
– Cakaudrove
– Kadavu
– Lau
– Lomaiviti groups

Other areas will encounter cloudy conditions with showers, as well as potential isolated thunderstorms, particularly in the afternoon or evening. Similar weather patterns are anticipated across all divisions and outer islands, with isolated thunderstorms likely on Saturday afternoon and evening.
