A strong wind warning is now in effect for all Fiji Waters as the weekend approaches. The Fiji Meteorological Services has issued a serious warning about the likelihood of rough seas developing.
Sailors and fishermen are strongly advised to exercise caution and avoid venturing into these rough waters. The prevailing weather conditions in the Fiji region include an east to southeast wind flow, influenced by a trough of low pressure located to the south.
Around midday today, east to southeast winds are anticipated to reach speeds of 20 to 25 knots, accompanied by rough seas and moderate southerly swells.
Occasional showers and isolated thunderstorms are predicted in the following areas:
– Serua-Namosi
– Navua-Suva-Nausori-Tailevu
– Naitasiri, Ra-Rakiraki
– Eastern Macuata
– Southern Bua
– Cakaudrove
– Kadavu
– Lau
– Lomaiviti groups
Other regions will likely experience cloudy periods with showers and potential isolated thunderstorms, particularly in the afternoon or evening. This weather pattern is expected to persist across all divisions and outer islands, with possible isolated thunderstorms forecasted for Saturday afternoon and evening.
