Fiji Boxers Shine in Youth & Junior Oceania Boxing Championships – 10 Make it to Finals!

Ten out of the 11 boxers representing Fiji at the Youth & Junior Oceania Boxing Championships in Tahiti have advanced to the finals of their respective categories.

On Thursday, Iokimi Navuasese defeated Rochetter Vairaaroa of Tahiti by unanimous decision in their ceremonial fight.

Joe Kolitapa overpowered Kaoma Tavita of Kiribati, securing a victory in the second round of the youth 63.5-67kg welterweight category.

Titifanua Geoffery faced a tough bout against Samoa’s Semi Johnsal, but the match was stopped in the third round by the referee on RSC (Referee Stops Contest) grounds.

“Ten of them have now made it to the finals and the 11th boxer, who is Geoffery, finished with a bronze medal,” stated head coach Cam Todd.

Merewalesi Kolitapa is the only female boxer on the team.

The junior finals will be held today, while the youth will compete in the ring tomorrow.
