Fiji Bitter Strengthens Grassroots Rugby with Exciting Malake 7s Kickoff!

Fiji Bitter has reiterated its dedication to promoting grassroots rugby in Fiji with the introduction of the Fiji Bitter Malake 7s, the second event in the Fiji Bitter 7s Series, which was officially launched at the Paradise Beverages (Fiji) Ltd offices in Suva.

The tournament was announced by coordinator Isoa Tute and Fiji Bitter’s head of marketing, Etrina Simpson, who formalized the sponsorship with a signing. Tute expressed gratitude for the support from sponsors, as Fiji Bitter continues its backing into the tournament’s third year. This year’s competition features 32 men’s teams, 24 teams in the 18-U21 category, and eight women’s teams.

“This year gives us another chance to achieve our objectives from the tournament, both in rugby development and community enhancement,” Tute mentioned.

The community initiative includes the second phase of development for the local Methodist Church on Malake Island, which was significantly impacted by previous cyclones in the region.

Simpson highlighted that the tournament not only showcases emerging rugby talent but also plays a crucial role in supporting local sustainability efforts, an initiative that Fiji Bitter is proud to champion.

The Fiji Bitter Malake 7s event is set to commence tomorrow and will conclude this Saturday at the Narauyabe Sports ground in Rakiraki.
