Local rugby 7s teams will have an exciting opportunity to face off against the Fijian Drua during the upcoming 3rd Fiji Bitter Mataso 7s tournament. This inaugural event, welcomed by Tournament Director James Vulinituraga, marks what is anticipated to be the first of many such competitions. Vulinituraga emphasized the positive prospects that the inclusion of the Fijian Drua brings to the tournament.
In addition, this year’s funding from the event is dedicated to the construction of a community bridge, which is currently underway, showcasing the event’s commitment to supporting local infrastructure. The Fiji 7s team will also have two trial teams stemming from their extended squad participating in the tournament.
Overall, the tournament will feature a total of 32 men’s teams, 8 women’s teams, and 16 Under-20 teams, providing a platform for a wide array of talent in competitive rugby. Participants will also compete for a total prize pot of $8,500, adding to the excitement of the event.
