The opening day of the Fiji Bitter Malake 7s showcased exhilarating rugby action in both the U21 and men’s divisions, as teams fiercely competed for victories in their pool matches.

In the U21 category, five teams remained unbeaten after two rounds. Vatukoro U21 narrowly defeated Radisson Naduruniu 12-7 in a competitive match, while Village Boys convincingly triumphed over Duiyasana with a score of 28-12.

Continuing their impressive performance, TEMC Birdland Brothers secured a clean sheet against Survivor Burotu, winning 10-0. The defending champions, AJ Pallets Ba River, demonstrated their strength by overwhelming Namara 31-5. Dominion Brothers Blue wrapped up the day’s games with a 15-0 win over Uluisuvani.

In the first round, Vatukoro started strong with a 17-5 victory over Dominion Brothers Red, and Village Boys delivered a solid performance against Survivor Brothers, winning 15-0. TEMC Birdland Brothers also shone with a 29-0 victory against Duiyasana, while AJ Pallets Ba River earned a 12-0 win over Midland.

The men’s division featured equally intense competition. Reigning Kadavu 7s champions, Wardens Gold, kicked off their campaign with a decisive 19-0 victory over Bularoos Rugby. Vatukoro Brothers triumphed over Midland with a score of 17-5. Namuaniwaqa dominated Naiova with a 19-0 victory, and Fire Rugby clinched a win by default against Nawaka.

Hosts Malake secured an exhilarating 7-5 win against Viwa Rugby, while Namara Rugby narrowly defeated Army FTG 14-7. Dominion Brothers showcased their dominance with a 26-0 victory over Yaro Chiefs, and Mataravua One secured a solid 29-12 win over Taikita Brothers. The most remarkable victory of the day belonged to M. Recht Devo Babas, who routed Senibiau Blues 34-0. Uluinakau Babas also enjoyed a smooth 19-0 win against Namacuku Brothers.
