The Fiji Bitter Lomaiviti and Mataso 7s tournaments were officially launched at the headquarters of Paradise Beverages Fiji Ltd in Walu Bay, Suva. The event marked the signing of sponsorship agreements, attended by officials and media representatives.
Mark Spencer, the general manager of Paradise Beverages Fiji Ltd, expressed his enthusiasm for contributing to the growth of local sporting talent. He emphasized the company’s commitment to fostering local rugby skills and creating opportunities for meaningful community impact.
Isoa Lala, president of the Yalovata Rugby Club, which is organizing the Lomaiviti 7s, highlighted the positive influence of Fiji Bitter’s sponsorship. He noted that their support had already led to the installation of 23 streetlights in the community and would help lay the groundwork for the construction of two new bridges.
Additionally, the launch of the Mataso 7s was met with gratitude from James Vunituraga, the tournament director representing the Mataso Nakorovou Rugby Club. He acknowledged the hard work of the organizers and Fiji Bitter’s support, aimed at constructing a new bridge to improve access for nearby communities during adverse weather conditions.
The Mataso 7s tournament is scheduled to take place from November 15-17 at Nadovu Park, Lautoka, while the Lomaiviti 7s will occur from November 21-23 at Nasau Park on Ovalau Island.
