The Vodafone Fiji Bati has ramped up their training intensity this week in preparation for a crucial match against the Cook Islands, scheduled for tomorrow at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva. This update was provided by Bati head coach Wise Kativerata.

Kativerata emphasized the importance of completing their sets and executing their kicks accurately during practice. “We know we can score points anywhere, but we can’t do that if we’re always on the back foot,” he stated. He urged the team to avoid repeating the mistakes made in last Saturday’s game against Papua New Guinea, acknowledging the significance of achieving a strong finish in the Pacific Bowl Championship.

He praised Papua New Guinea for their performance but stressed the need for his players to be adequately prepared for the Cook Islands. Kativerata expressed his excitement about the arrival of international rugby league in Fiji and thanked the fans for their support, indicating that they are building towards the Rugby League World Cup with promising future Fijian players emerging.

During training, Kativerata noted that player communication on the field has improved, which has contributed to a positive atmosphere. He highlighted James Valevatu’s impressive performance in the reserve grade with Wests and mentioned the intention to evaluate his capabilities this week. The coach plans to assess all players following the conclusion of the tournament.

Several Bati players who are part of the NRL were unable to participate in the championship due to suspensions and injuries, including Api Koroisau, Mika Ravalawa, Daniel Safaiti, Jacob Safaiti, Marcelo Montoya, and Reagan Campbell-Gillard.
