Fiji Bati Readies for Revenge Match Against PNG Kumuls

Vodafone Fiji Bati captain Tui Kamikamica is preparing his team for a challenging match against the Papua New Guinea Kumuls, who are looking to avenge their defeat from last year’s Pacific Bowl Championship. After the team held its first training session at Suva’s Albert Park, Kamikamica expressed optimism about their preparations for the upcoming game on Saturday.

He noted that the initial training went well, focusing on implementing game strategies and enhancing skills. “The first day with the boys was a pretty good session. We ran through some game plans for Saturday and focused on skills. Tomorrow is going to be a big day,” Kamikamica stated.

The addition of new players in the squad is seen as a chance to develop team cohesion ahead of the match. “We have a couple of new boys joining us, which is great for building combinations for Saturday’s game.”

Kamikamica is aware that the Kumuls will come into the match looking for revenge. “We know they want revenge after our victory last year, but playing on our home ground will make it a tough task for them,” he said. He acknowledged the physical nature of the Kumuls’ play, emphasizing that it adds to the intensity of their encounters.

“We expect a tough physical game, especially considering the Pacific Test last year in PNG. We need a little fire in our bellies for some revenge this year, particularly since we’re playing in Fiji.”

The Fiji Bati will launch their Pacific Bowl Championship campaign against the PNG Kumuls this Saturday at 8:10 PM at the HFC Bank Stadium. Following this match, the Bati will face the Cook Islands on October 26.
