The Vodafone Fiji Bati has ramped up their training efforts this week in anticipation of a crucial match against the Cook Islands, scheduled for tomorrow at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva. Head coach Wise Kativerata confirmed this development to SUNsports yesterday.

“Our main focus this week is to effectively complete our sets and execute our kicks properly,” Kativerata stated. “We are capable of scoring from any position, but we need to avoid being on the defensive too often.”

He emphasized the importance of learning from the previous match against Papua New Guinea, highlighting the need to avoid repeating past mistakes. “This is a vital game for us, as we aim to conclude the Pacific Bowl Championship positively. Despite the admirable performance of Papua New Guinea, our team must be ready to face the Cook Islands.”

Kativerata expressed his satisfaction with the presence of international rugby league in Fiji, sharing his gratitude for the support from fans. “We are making strides toward the Rugby League World Cup, and we have promising future Fiji Bati players emerging for the next tournament.”

He noted that he was pleased with the players’ communication during training sessions, observing an increase in dialogue and enjoyment among the team. “James Valevatu has been impressive for Wests in the reserve grade, and we intend to evaluate him this week,” he added.

Kativerata plans to assess the players’ performances at the conclusion of the tournament. Among the notable Bati players unable to participate in the championship due to suspensions and injuries are Api Koroisau, Mika Ravalawa, Daniel Safaiti, Jacob Safaiti, Marcelo Montoya, and Reagan Campbell-Gillard.
