As the highly anticipated match between Fiji Bati and Papua New Guinea Kumuls approaches, Vodafone Fiji Bati coach Wise Kativerata is set to unveil the national squad on Monday morning, shortly following the NRL Grand Final on Sunday.
The selection process has been thorough, with the coaching staff awaiting Australia’s squad announcement to ensure they secure the best available talents for the team.
Kativerata emphasized the importance of having senior players available for the match, noting, “It’s a good thing because we are playing in Fiji, and we need all the top players to be ready to come here and play football. They will serve as role models for the young kids of the country.”
There remains uncertainty regarding Jarrod Hayne’s participation due to personal commitments. Kativerata stated that the primary focus is on the overall team and their objective to win every match, aiming to elevate Fiji rugby league.
“Concerning Jarrod, he’s not ready yet. I understand his situation since he hasn’t played in a while and has family commitments. We will wait to see what he decides, but for now, I am focusing on the team,” he added.
“My priority is the Bati team; I am not worried about the Kumuls or the Cook Islands. We know our direction and aim to reach the top,” Kativerata remarked.
As enthusiasm builds, fans are encouraged to support the players, as they can anticipate an exciting match featuring some of the nation’s best talents representing Fiji Bati on home turf.
The Fiji Bati will face the PNG Kumuls on the 19th of this month.
