Fiji Bati Captains’ Run: Spirits High Ahead of Historic Match

The captain’s run for the Vodafone Fiji Bati took place yesterday, with head coach Wise Kativerata noting that the energy flow was excellent. He described the session as a continuation of prior training throughout the week, emphasizing that the players were enjoying the workouts.

“It was really good, and a very colorful training session. We enjoyed it, and the turnout from the boys was impressive,” Kativerata stated. He highlighted that the captain’s run built upon the efforts from Monday to Wednesday, after which they took a day off.

Kativerata also mentioned a positive atmosphere within the camp, crediting senior players for helping newcomers adjust. “The atmosphere at camp is really good, and the great thing is that the senior players are leading by example,” he remarked.

While the focus remains on their upcoming match against the Kumuls, Kativerata acknowledged that young players have been relishing their training experiences, as they adapt quickly after meeting their teammates.

“They were a bit worried initially, but we advised them to relax—it’s just a game of rugby league. As the days and weeks go on, I can see they are starting to open up and enjoy it,” he recalled.

The Bati’s first match against the Kumuls will take place on home soil, marking the first time since 2001.
