Fiji Bati Braces for Revenge-seeking Kumuls Showdown!

The Vodafone Fiji Bati team is set to go head-to-head with Papua New Guinea in the upcoming Pacific Nations Cup match, with the Kumuls eager to avenge their loss from the previous year. Last season, the Fiji Bati stunned the Kumuls with a decisive 43-16 win on their home turf during the PNC clash.

Fiji Bati head coach Wise Kativerata acknowledges that the Kumuls will be seeking revenge and is preparing for a challenging encounter. He stressed the need for focus, stating that the team’s primary goal is to perform well for the Fiji Bati.

“This year, we have a combination of seasoned players and younger talent, creating a well-rounded team for the tournament,” Kativerata remarked. He has been in contact with the experienced members of the squad during their preparation and has observed the Kumuls’ determination to secure a victory.

Kativerata praised Papua New Guinea’s coach, Jason, for his strong encouragement of the team and their aspirations to enhance their position in the NRL. He views this ambition as a positive step for both the Pacific region and rugby league in general.

“Coach Jason has emphasized the importance of winning this match as a means to elevate their status in the NRL. The ongoing discussions between PNG and the Australian government regarding an NRL bid are commendable. I take pride in what they are striving to accomplish in PNG, as it would benefit the Pacific and the rugby league community,” he commented.

The match between the Fiji Bati and the PNG Kumuls is scheduled for the 19th of this month at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva.
