The Vodafone Fiji Bati has ramped up their training efforts in anticipation of their crucial match against the Cook Islands, taking place tomorrow at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva. This increase in intensity was confirmed by Bati head coach Wise Kativerata.

Kativerata stated, “This week, our focus is on completing our sets and perfecting our kicking.” He emphasized the need for the team to be proactive on the field, as they have the potential to score points but cannot do so if they continually find themselves in a defensive position.

The coach highlighted the importance of learning from previous mistakes, referring to last Saturday’s match against Papua New Guinea. He remarked, “This is a significant game as we aim to conclude the Pacific Bowl Championship on a positive note. While we give credit to Papua New Guinea, our team needs to be well-prepared for the Cook Islands.”

Kativerata expressed his excitement about the arrival of international rugby league in Fiji. “I cannot thank the crowd enough, and we are building momentum towards the Rugby League World Cup. We have future Fiji Bati players emerging as we look ahead to the next World Cup.”

He also noted an improvement in player communication during training, saying, “The players are speaking up more and enjoying the process, which is encouraging.” Additionally, he mentioned that James Valevatu has performed well for Wests in the reserve grade and they are keen to evaluate him this week.

Kativerata plans to review the players’ performances at the end of the tournament. Meanwhile, several Bati players, such as Api Koroisau, Mika Ravalawa, Daniel Safaiti, Jacob Safaiti, Marcelo Montoya, and Reagan Campbell-Gillard, were unable to participate in the championship due to suspensions and injuries.
