A total of 193 swimmers took part in the opening day of the Fiji Swimming Age Group Nationals at the Damodar City Aquatic Centre in Laucala. The competition attracted 716 entries from enthusiastic young swimmers representing seven clubs: Mako, Barracuda, Dolphins, Seals, Great White Sharks, Tritons, and Orca.

The participants, aged between 10 and 22 years old, included one international swimmer from Australia. Fiji Swimming president Lucy Erasito expressed her pleasure with the event, highlighting the efforts of the technical committee and the collaboration of all club members.

Erasito stated, “The swimmers have shown great dedication to their training, guided by local coaches from both the East and West divisions.” With seven clubs competing—four from the West and three from Suva—the event promises to showcase a remarkable level of swimming talent cultivated by local trainers.

Furthermore, athletes from the clubs will select representatives for the Fiji Aquatics Athletes Swimming Committee, which is designed to advocate for their rights and welfare. As the final competition of the year, this event will culminate in the Swimming Awards Night hosted by the Seals Swimming Club in Nadi. This gathering aims to celebrate the accomplishments of the athletes and foster a sense of community within the swimming world.
