Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka has extended an invitation to President Xi Jinping of the People’s Republic of China to visit Fiji next year, aiming to commemorate what Rabuka describes as a “golden milestone relationship” with China. During their meeting in Beijing, Rabuka emphasized the significance of the ties between the two nations, which have been established for over 49 years. He noted the strength of the relationship throughout the years. President Xi acknowledged that China and Fiji serve as exemplars of equitable treatment and amicable cooperation between larger and smaller nations, advocating for the creation of a China-Fiji community with a shared future. The two leaders had previously met in San Francisco last November.
