Fiji is looking to establish collaborative efforts with China across several sectors. These efforts aim to improve sustainable aquaculture practices, marine conservation, and knowledge-sharing, as well as enhance capacity building.
During his recent visit to Ninghai Village in Ningde, Fujian Province, Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka expressed Fiji’s interest in partnering with China to advance ecological conservation and eco-friendly fish farming, which is essential for the development of Fiji’s fisheries sector.
Rabuka emphasized that coastal communities and the fisheries industry could greatly benefit from acquiring knowledge and implementing marine fish farming initiatives.
Additionally, he visited the Ningde Poverty Alleviation and Development Exhibition Hall, where he discussed Fiji’s commitment to poverty alleviation through various initiatives led by the Ministry of Women, Children, and Social Protection. These initiatives include social pension schemes, food vouchers, and other support programs.
Rabuka noted that Fiji stands to gain valuable insights from China’s targeted poverty alleviation strategies to enhance the livelihoods of local communities.
