Fiji Airways Unveils Game-Changing Route to Dallas: What It Means for Tourism

Fiji Airways has launched a new route between Nadi and Dallas, which Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Prof Biman Prasad says will significantly enhance travel connectivity for North American tourists to Fiji. At the route’s launch in Nadi this week, Prof Prasad emphasized the importance of tourism to Fiji’s economy, noting its contribution of 40 percent to economic growth and over 36 percent to employment in the nation.

Prof Prasad highlighted the key role of Fiji Airways in the tourism sector, stating that the airline transports 70 percent of visitors to the islands. He also pointed out a notable increase in visitor numbers from June 2023 to June 2024, with total arrivals nearly hitting one million, surpassing pre-pandemic levels by 104 percent.

The new Nadi to Dallas route, according to Prof Prasad, reinforces Fiji’s standing as a top destination in the South Pacific. It will allow for greater promotion of the nation’s stunning natural landscapes and rich cultural heritage. Visitors will be able to enjoy Fiji’s pristine beaches, vibrant culture, and renowned hospitality.

Additionally, the route aims to enhance trade and business opportunities between Fiji and the U.S. It will provide Fijian businesses easier access to new markets and promote exports, which will bolster economic diversification and resilience.

Prof Prasad recognized the new route as a sign of Fiji Airways’ commitment to delivering high-quality service and improving Fiji’s global connectivity.
