Fiji Airways will resume direct flights between Nadi and Nouméa on September 22, restoring a key regional link and adding more than 10,000 seats to its schedule each year. The service, operated by the airline’s regional arm Fiji Link, will run twice weekly on Tuesdays and Fridays, the carrier announced, with tickets for the reinstated route going on sale today through Fiji Airways and authorised travel agents.

The return of the Nadi–Nouméa connection marks the latest step in Fiji Airways’ push to strengthen Pacific connectivity. Operating via Fiji Link, the twice-weekly flights are intended to reconnect two major South Pacific hubs and to provide travellers with straightforward transfer options through Nadi to the airline’s broader international network — including onward flights across the Pacific, to New Zealand, the United States and Canada.

Managing Director and Chief Executive Paul Scurrah said New Caledonia remains an important market for the airline and that restoring the route will create fresh opportunities for tourists, businesses and other travellers between the destinations. Scurrah linked the additional capacity to anticipated gains for tourism growth and trade links, and said it will bolster people-to-people ties across the region.

Fiji Airways also highlighted the route’s value for the Pacific’s development community. Nouméa and Suva host a number of regional organisations and the carrier said the direct service will better facilitate movement for staff, delegates and project work between those centres and beyond.

The reinstatement follows a period of network rebuilding and investment in regional capability. Earlier this year Fiji Link added new ATR aircraft to its fleet to expand services to outer islands and neighbouring markets; the airline said the refreshed capacity supports the relaunch of routes such as Nouméa and underpins plans for broader regional growth.

Passengers booked on the new Nadi–Nouméa flights will benefit from coordinated connections via Nadi to Fiji Airways’ long-haul services, offering linkages for leisure and business travellers to multiple international destinations. The twice-weekly schedule is expected to provide predictable options for charter, tourist and business operations between Fiji and New Caledonia.

Tickets for the September 22 launch are available immediately from Fiji Airways and authorised travel agents. The carrier did not disclose aircraft type for the route in its announcement but confirmed operations will be handled by Fiji Link.
