Fiji Airways Opens New Route to Dallas: A Game Changer for Tourism!

Fiji Airways has launched a new route connecting Nadi and Dallas, significantly enhancing access to North American travelers, according to Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Prof Biman Prasad. At the route’s inauguration in Nadi, Prof Prasad highlighted that tourism is essential to Fiji’s economy and increasing connectivity with the United States is expected to provide a major boost.

In 2023, tourism accounted for 40 percent of Fiji’s economic growth, employing over 36 percent of the workforce. Prof Prasad noted that Fiji Airways is crucial for the tourism sector, as it transports 70 percent of visitors to the islands. Visitor numbers saw a marked increase from June 2023 to June 2024, with total arrivals nearly reaching one million, exceeding pre-pandemic levels at 104 percent.

The new Nadi-Dallas route further cements Fiji’s position as a top destination in the South Pacific. “It showcases our natural beauty and rich culture to a wider audience,” Prof Prasad said, encouraging visitors to explore Fiji’s pristine beaches, vibrant culture, and warm hospitality.

The advantages of the new route extend beyond tourism by promoting trade and business opportunities between Fiji and the United States. Improved connectivity will benefit Fijian businesses by facilitating access to new markets, enabling exports, and fostering partnerships with American companies, thereby enhancing the resilience and diversification of Fiji’s economy. Prof Prasad emphasized that this new route demonstrates Fiji Airways’ commitment to exceptional service and increased global connectivity.
